Time Management
Wow is that something I struggle with. Those two big words that make my brain short circuit every time I see them. Case and point, I was supposed to have this post up hours ago. Instead, I decided to take a nap and then go to pick up my nephew from his last full day of school, go get snow cones and now as I'm writing this I am watching Breaking Dawn Part 2. I have a schedule it's just really hard for me to stick to it.
That's how it is in life. There will always be things in life that we would rather do than the things that we need to. This blog is something that I want to do, but sticking to a strict posting schedule is hard for me because I do not always do well with being told, even by myself, what to do when. I know a lot of people struggle with this, so here are my tips for staying on top of life and managing your time.
1.) plan out your day
Take some time to write down everything you absolutely have to do in a day, from doctors appointments and work meetings to tasks that need to get done around the house such as laundry or deep cleaning the oven. Having a plan of attack for your day can make things much less daunting an overwhelming.
2.) set alarms
In this day and age, you'd be hard pressed to find someone without a smartphone that is capable of setting alarms. I have multiple alarms set on my phone to tell me when it's time for certain activities. This includes things like studying for classes and working my businesses. The alarms help me keep my day organized and stay on task. Make sure you have alarms set for or have reminders on your calendar app for appointments and make sure that within those alarms you have allowed yourself time to travel to get to where you need to be.
3.) learn to say no
I'm going to tell you this a lot. You have to learn to say no not only to people inviting you out to do things but to yourself. If there is something you really need to do, there is undoubtedly something you would rather be doing instead. The trick is being able to be strict with yourself even though you want to do something else. For example, even though it's going up late, this post is still going up on Thursday. At the end of the day as long as you get the important items on your list done, that is really all that matters.
